Here’s why that matters.
We’re proud to share that FLSSH has achieved ISO 45001 certification.
That might sound like a line from the health and safety department, but for you, it means something very practical.
It means our health and safety systems have been independently assessed against an internationally recognised standard. It means we’ve put the work in behind the scenes to make sure our people, processes, equipment and decision-making are built around doing the job safely and properly.
For a mobile sanitation business working across construction sites, major events, venues, civil projects and private hire, that matters.
Because when we show up, we’re not just dropping off units. We’re working around people, vehicles, machinery, temporary infrastructure, public access, tight timeframes and live sites. The job needs to be done cleanly, safely and without adding drama.

What is ISO 45001?
ISO 45001 is the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems. It provides a framework for organisations to manage health and safety risks, improve performance and create safer workplaces.
Put simply, it’s about making safety part of how a business runs every day, not something that gets dusted off when an audit is due.
For FLSSH, that means building health and safety into the way we plan jobs, brief our crew, service equipment, move around sites, work with customers and improve when something needs tightening up.
What we had to do to meet the standard
Achieving ISO 45001 certification was not a box-ticking exercise.
We had to take a hard look at how we operate, document what good looks like, train our people, develop our systems and show that our approach works in the real world.
That included:
- Reviewing our health and safety risks across the business, from yard operations and vehicle movements to site delivery, servicing, cleaning, maintenance and customer locations.
- Improving the way we identify hazards before work begins, so our crew can make smart decisions before they’re on site and under pressure.
- Strengthening our procedures, including how we plan work, communicate requirements, manage incidents, respond to emergencies and keep records.
- Making sure our team understands their role in keeping themselves, each other and our customers safe.
- Building worker participation into the system, because the people doing the mahi every day often know exactly where improvements need to happen.
- Auditing our processes and records, then using what we found to keep improving.

Achieving ISO 45001 has been an incredibly rewarding experience for our entire FLSSH team. When we began our ISO 45001 journey, our people came together to reflect on what we were doing well, identify where there were gaps, and determine how we could improve. This collaborative approach has not only strengthened our understanding, and the importance, of health and safety, but also reinforced our commitment to ensuring everyone returns home safely to their families each day.
While achieving ISO 45001 certification is a significant milestone, it is only the beginning. We are committed to continually raising the bar by improving our occupational health and safety management system, processes, and the way we put them into practice.

ISO 45001 has made us sharper in those areas. It has pushed us to be clearer, more consistent and more disciplined about the way we manage health and safety. And that benefits everyone: our crew, our customers, our partners and the people using our facilities.
ISO is not only an achievement, but an achievement of a new way of life. Audits, both internal and external now hold us to this standard; the continual improvement aspect of this accreditation keeps lifting this bar. Without ISO (or other reputable qualifications) you are required to trust an organisation are doing what is behind their policy – this Certification is the culmination of the systems & processes we use, and the culture we hold our peers to – we are tried, tested and continually improving. Without this, we don’t meet the standard. We wear our ISO accreditation with pride.
Ultimately if our customers are expected to meet a standard to keep their staff safe, why shouldn’t their subbies?
